Tour Details


Day 1:

We depart Cape Town and drive north to the spectacular Cederberg region. We spend some time this afternoon learning about what to expect as well as the vehicle and equipment. Included Meals: Lunch & Dinner.
Day 2:

We travel through Namaqualand and to the Gariep/Orange River. The night is spent getting to know one another over a hearty meal. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 3:

In the morning we have the opportunity to experience the Gariep/Orange River by canoe, or spend some time relaxing. After lunch we travel north to visit the Ai-Ais Hot Springs and overnight close to the mighty Fish River Canyon. Optional Activities: Half-Day Canoe Adventure. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 4:

After an early breakfast we take a scenic walk along the rim of the Fish River Canyon. After visiting the canyon we travel further inland to the Kalahari area of Namibia. On the way we will visit the Kokerboom (Quiver tree) Forest. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 5:

This morning those who wish to spend some time with the !Kung tribe will have the chance to do so. Later we drive west towards the massive dunes of Sossusvlei. Optional Activities: African Tribal interaction. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 6:

When we enter the Sossusvlei area we are joined by a local expert to learn about the unique desert ecosystem. After the tour you can hike up Dune 45 for some photos or take a rest, before an afternoon excursion to the small Sesriem canyon. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Days 7 to 8:

Today we cross the Tropic of Capricorn on our way through the desert. Our first stop is Walvis Bay where we may see some flamingos. On arrival in Swakopmund you will be briefed on the different optional activities available on the next day. Optional Activities: Dinner, Quad biking, Sand boarding, Sky Diving, Scenic Flights etc. Included Meals: Day 7- Breakfast & Lunch Day 8- Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 9:

Heading inland, we drive north towards Kamanjab where we meet with the local people from this area. The Himba are a pastoral people and predominantly breed cattle or goats. Encountering a totally different way of life can be a moving experience for many people. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Days 10 to 11:

After an early breakfast we enter Etosha National Park for some superb game viewing. We will visit water-holes to wait for the animals to come and drink as well as explore as much as we can of the National Park. It may not be possible to always overnight in the National Park. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 12:

On our way to Namibia’s capital city we stop at a craft market so you can purchase some authentic African creations. Windhoek is situated at almost the exact centre of Namibia. In the afternoon we’ll take you on a short tour of the city. Optional Activities: Dinner at Joe’s Beer House. Included Meals: Breakfast & Lunch.
Day 13:

We take a scenic drive to the Buitepos border, where we enter Botswana. Once at the lodge we meet with a local Bushman community and see some traditional Tribal Dancing. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 14 to 16:

Maun is well known as the gateway to the Okavango Delta. We spend one night in this remote town and prepare for this excursion. Small planes transport us over this amazing area to Gunn’s Camp for the next 2 nights. Animals are often spotted from the lodge, but we also take a nature walk and, if the water level allows, a mokoro (traditional canoe) trip. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 17:

A second scenic air-transfer will return us to Maun and the truck. This afternoon we drive to Gweta where our evening accommodation is unique, and a little quirky. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 18:

We drive north to Kasane, where we stay on the bank of the Chobe River. We take an afternoon river cruise in order to visit Chobe National Park’s animals as they come down to the river to drink. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 19:

After crossing into Zimbabwe we have a short briefing on all the activities available here. Then we enter the much anticipated Victoria Falls National Park where we will experience the might of the great Zambezi River. The popular optional sunset cruise includes dinner and drinks. Optional Activities: Chobe Game Drive, Zambezi Sunset Cruise, Dinner in local restaurant. Included Meals: Breakfast & Lunch.
Day 20:

Most people will spend the day white water rafting, a not-to-be-missed experience of a lifetime! Victoria Falls offers many exciting alternatives. Optional Activities: White Water Rafting, Bungee Jump, Elephant Excursion. Included meals: Breakfast.
Day 21:

Om 6 uur vanochtend vertrekken we vanuit het Hotel. We maken een lange tocht door Botswana naar Palapye waar we overnachten. Reiziger die Zimbabwe willen vermijden kunnen een transfer naar Kasane aanvragen waar zij om 07:30 opgehaald zullen worden. (Geen maaltijden inbegrepen)
Day 22:

Another 6 am departure will ensure that we cover the next 750 km and get to Johannesburg as early as possible. (No meals included)
Day 23:

After a short briefing we leave Johannesburg on a scenic drive through Mpumalanga and the breathtaking vistas of the Lowveld. Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Potholes will be some of today’s highlights. Included meals: Lunch & Dinner.
Days 24 to 25:

We get up early and visit a wildlife rehabilitation centre for an educational experience before we enter Kruger National Park. The next two days are spent exploring the southern part of this vast reserve and we stand a good chance of sighting Africa's famed big five. An optional night drive with one of the South African National Park (SANP) rangers is an excellent way to see some of the nocturnal animals. Optional Activities: SANP Night Drive. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Days 26 to 27:

Today we leave the Kruger Park and cross the border into Swaziland. We spend the next two nights in the Mlilwane Nature Reserve where we are able to explore the area on foot. We will also experience the wonderful Swazi culture first hand by visiting a traditional village. Optional Activities: Mountain Biking, Hiking, Horse Riding and Game Viewing. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Days 28 to 29:

We leave Swaziland and re-enter South Africa to drive down to the warm Indian Ocean coast. We spend the afternoon exploring the iSimangaliso (St. Lucia) Wetland Park and take an afternoon sunset cruise on the lagoon. The following morning we transfer to the Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game Reserve for a guided game drive. We enter the coastal city of Durban in the late afternoon. Optional Activities: Dinner and night out in Durban. Included Meals: Day 28- Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Day 29- Breakfast & Lunch
Days 30 to 31:

We leave the beautiful beaches of KwaZulu Natal, and travel inland to the Royal Natal National Park, part of the massive Drakensberg escarpment. You can choose between many activities, including horse riding. A short guided hike to view Bushmen rock art can be very enjoyable. Optional Activities: Horse Riding, Hiking. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Days 32 to 33:

After a long but scenic drive we arrive in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. When border formalities are completed we ascend into the mountains to our rustic overnight spot. The next day we get up early and those going on the Pony Trek will ride into the remote hills of Lesotho accompanied by local guides. If you choose to remain behind you can simply relax or go visit the local village and school or craft market. Optional Activities: Pony Trekking Excursion, Hiking. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 34 to 35:

We leave Lesotho and drive south to the picturesque Hogsback valley. In addition to a gentle hike into the surrounding forest your guides will also provide information on the other available activities in this area. Optional Activities: Horse riding, Mountain biking. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 36:

We spend our time in Addo Elephant National Park surrounded by elephants! These magnificent creatures are always a highlight and Addo provides us with many fantastic photographic opportunities. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Days 37 to 38:

After an early morning game drive we bid farewell to the elephants and drive further along the sunshine coast until we reach Bloukrans. Optional Activities: Bungee Jumping (highest in the world), Treetop Canopy Tour, hiking. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 39:

It is only a short distance to Knysna, were you can relax by the lagoon and explore this interesting town. The next day we travel on via the Outeniqua Mountains as we head for Oudtshoorn, where we take an included tour of the Cango Caves. Later in the day you have the option of visiting an Ostrich Farm. Optional Activities: Ostrich Farm visit and Ostrich Riding. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 40:

Today we travel on via the Outeniqua Mountains as we head for Oudtshoorn, where we take a tour of the Cango Caves. Later in the day you have the option of visiting an Ostrich Farm. Optional Activities: Ostrich Farm visit and Ostrich Riding. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 41:

We take a scenic drive to Stellenbosch and stop at some wonderful wine farms. As this is the last night on tour we will go out to a local restaurant for dinner. Optional Activity: Meal Out. Included Meals: Breakfast & Lunch.
Day 42:

After a leisurely breakfast, we go to a wine farm to taste some of South Africa’s finest wines. We also visit the Cheetah Breeding Project and finally the tour ends on arrival in central Cape Town. Included Meals: Breakfast.

    A full checklist of essential items is included in the pre-departure information document. Due to limited space, luggage is restricted to one backpack or similar sized item (not exceeding 20 kg.) and one daypack.

Medical Precautions
    Clients are strongly advised to take anti-malaria tablets. Anyone participating in an overland expedition, must be in good health. Medical facilities are not readily available in some of the remote areas we visit. All personal prescription medication should be carried with you, together with a copy of the prescription. Your guide should be advised of any existing medical conditions you may have.

Visa Requirements
    When visiting South Africa for a period of up to 90 days, travellers from Commonwealth countries, Japan, the USA and the European Union do not require a visa. Visitors who intend to work in South Africa must apply for a work permit abroad at the South African Consulate or Embassy. Before departing for South Africa, check with the nearest South African Consulate or Embassy for any possible changes regarding the visa requirements. Passports must carry a validity of 6 months beyond intended date of departure from South Africa. Note, Travellers should have a minimum of two blank pages in their passport to enable the entry visa to be issued. If there is insufficient space in the passport entry will be denied. *** When visiting Namibia for a period of up to 90 days, travellers from the following countries do not need a visa before entering Namibia but as this list is constantly changing, all travellers are advised to contact the Namibian Diplomatic Mission before departure for Namibia: Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Canada, the USA, Brazil, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Angola, Mozambique, Kenya, Japan, Singapore and the Scandinavian countries. All travellers to Namibia should have a passport that is valid for six months after the intended departure from Namibia. Visitors who intend to work in Namibia must apply for a work permit abroad at the Namibian Consulate or Embassy. *** When visiting Botswana for a period of up to 90 days, Travellers from the following countries do not require a visa: - All Commonwealth countries - Most European Countries - Israel, South Africa & U.S.A. Before departing for Botswana, check with the nearest Botswana Consulate or Embassy for any possible changes regarding the visa requirements. *** Travellers from the following countries do not require a visa to visit Zimbabwe: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, USA, European Union Countries (except Portugal & Greece), Japan, Nationals of commonwealth states (except Bangladesh, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka). Most travellers who do require a visa, can obtain this upon arrival in Zimbabwe. Travellers are advised to check the visa-regulations with their local Embassy or Consulate before departing for Zimbabwe. All visitors must carry valid passports.

Insurance
    Clients have to take out a medical insurance and are advised to take out a travel insurance. Credit Card travel insurance is often inadequate.
