Tour Details


Day 1:

Leaving behind Johannesburg, the city of gold, we head through the province of Mpumalanga and some breathtaking vistas of the Lowveld. Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Potholes will be some of today’s highlights. We will spend the evening just outside of Kruger National Park. Included Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Days 2 to 3:

We get up early and visit a Wildlife rehabilitation centre for an educational experience before we enter the Kruger National Park. The next two days are spent exploring the southern part of this vast reserve and we stand a good chance of sighting elephant, lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo - Africa's famed big five. An optional night drive with one of the South African National Park (SANP) rangers is an excellent way to see some of the nocturnal animals. Optional Activities: SANP Night Drive or Dawn Game Walk. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 4 to 5:

Today we leave the Kruger Park and cross the border into Swaziland. We spend the next two nights in the Mlilwane Nature Reserve where we are able to explore the area on foot (Guided hikes). We will also experience the wonderful Swazi culture first hand by while enjoying a display of some traditional dancing. Optional Activities: Mountain Biking, Hiking, Horse Riding and Game Viewing. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 6 to 7:

Leaving Swaziland, we travel through the subtropical region towards the Indian Ocean. We spend the afternoon exploring the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park and enjoying the unique sights on a lagoon boat cruise. The following day we enjoy a morning game drive in the Hluhluwe/Umfolozi game reserve before journeying down the coast to Durban. We will spend the night in this vibrant city. It is a great option to go out this evening to try one of Durban’s famous Indian restaurants. Optional Activities: Dinner and night out in Durban. Included Meals: Day 6: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Day 7: Breakfast & Lunch
Days 8 to 9:

We leave Durban and the KwaZulu Natal coast and travel to the Royal Natal National Park and the mighty Drakensberg escarpment. The next day is spent at leisure. You can choose any of the local activities such as horse riding or take an included short guided hike in the spectacular surroundings to Bushmen paintings. Optional Activities: Horse Riding, Hiking. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 10 to 11:

After a long but scenic drive, we arrive in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. When border formalities are completed, we ascend into the mountains to our rustic overnight spot. The next day we get up early and those going on the Pony Trek will ride into the remote hills of Lesotho accompanied by local guides. Those remaining behind can just relax or visit the local village, school or craft market. Optional Activities: Pony Trekking, Village and School visit. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 12 to 13:

We leave Lesotho and aim south to the beautiful mountain valleys of Hogsback. It is a long but scenic drive to this beautiful mountain valley. We have a full day to relax in the forest or next to the water falls, such as the famous ‘Madonna & Child’ and ‘kettle spout’ falls. Your guides will lead you on a gentle hike into the surrounding forest. Optional Activities: Horse riding, mountain biking. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 14:

We spend our time in Addo Elephant National Park surrounded by Elephants! Always a highlight, Addo provides us with many fantastic photographic opportunities. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 15 to 16:

After an early morning game drive we bid farewell to the elephants and drive further along the sunshine coast until we reach Bloukrans. This beautiful coastal area provides us with some amazing hikes, including the first section of the well-known Otter Trail. Optional Activities: Bungee Jumping (highest in the world), Treetop Canopy Tour. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 17 to 18:

It is only a short distance to Knysna, were you can relax by the lagoon and explore this interesting town. The next day we travel on via the Outeniqua Mountains as we head for Oudtshoorn, where we take an included tour of the Cango Caves. Later in the day you have the option of visiting an Ostrich Farm. Optional Activities: Ostrich Farm visit and Ostrich Riding. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 19:

After breakfast we set off for Stellenbosch. As this is the last night on tour we will go out to a local restaurant for dinner. In whale season (between June and November), we spend the day in Hermanus where there is a possibility of encountering world famous whales. Optional Activity: Meal Out. Included Meals: Breakfast & Lunch
Day 20:

After a leisurely breakfast, we set off for some wine tasting and meet the big cats at the Cheetah Breeding Project, before reaching Cape Town. The journey ends on arrival in central Cape Town. Included Meals: Breakfast

What to bring
    A full checklist of essential items is included in the pre-departure information document. Due to limited space, luggage is restricted to one backpack or similar sized item (not exceeding 20 kg.) and one daypack.

Medical Precautions
    Clients are strongly advised to take anti-malaria tablets. Anyone participating in an overland expedition, must be in good health. Medical facilities are not readily available in some of the remote areas we visit. All personal prescription medication should be carried with you, together with a copy of the prescription. Your guide should be advised of any existing medical conditions you may have.

Visa Requirements
    When visiting South Africa for a period of up to 90 days, travellers from Commonwealth countries, Japan, the USA and the European Union do not require a visa. Visitors who intend to work in South Africa must apply for a work permit abroad at the South African Consulate or Embassy. Before departing for South Africa, check with the nearest South African Consulate or Embassy for any possible changes regarding the visa requirements. Passports must carry a validity of 6 months beyond intended date of departure from South Africa. Note, Travellers should have a minimum of two blank pages in their passport to enable the entry visa to be issued. If there is insufficient space in the passport entry will be denied.

Insurance
    Clients have to take out a medical insurance and are advised to take out a travel insurance. Credit Card travel insurance is often inadequate.
