Tour Details


Day 1:

We depart Cape Town and drive north to the spectacular Cederberg region. We spend some time this afternoon learning about what to expect as well as the vehicle and equipment. Included Meals: Lunch & Dinner.
Day 2:

We travel through Namaqualand and to the Gariep/Orange River. The night is spent getting to know one another over a hearty meal. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 3:

In the morning we have the opportunity to experience the Gariep/Orange River by canoe, or spend some time relaxing. After lunch we travel north to visit the Ai-Ais Hot Springs and overnight close to the mighty Fish River Canyon. Optional Activities: Half-Day Canoe Adventure. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 4:

After an early breakfast we take a scenic walk along the rim of the Fish River Canyon. After visiting the canyon we travel further inland to the Kalahari area of Namibia. On the way we will visit the Kokerboom (Quiver tree) Forest. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 5:

This morning those who wish to spend some time with the !Kung tribe will have the chance to do so. Later we drive west towards the massive dunes of Sossusvlei. Optional Activities: African Tribal interaction. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 6:

When we enter the Sossusvlei area we are joined by a local expert to learn about the unique desert ecosystem. After the tour you can hike up Dune 45 for some photos or take a rest, before an afternoon excursion to the small Sesriem canyon. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Days 7 to 8:

Today we cross the Tropic of Capricorn on our way through the desert. Our first stop is Walvis Bay where we may see some flamingos. On arrival in Swakopmund you will be briefed on the different optional activities available on the next day. Optional Activities: Dinner, Quad biking, Sand boarding, Sky Diving, Scenic Flights etc. Included Meals: Day 7- Breakfast & Lunch Day 8- Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 9:

Heading inland, we drive north towards Kamanjab where we meet with the local people from this area. The Himba are a pastoral people and predominantly breed cattle or goats. Encountering a totally different way of life can be a moving experience for many people. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Days 10 to 11:

After an early breakfast we enter Etosha National Park for some superb game viewing. We will visit water-holes to wait for the animals to come and drink as well as explore as much as we can of the National Park. It may not be possible to always overnight in the National Park. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 12:

On our way to Namibia’s capital city we stop at a craft market so you can purchase some authentic African creations. Windhoek is situated at almost the exact centre of Namibia. In the afternoon we’ll take you on a short tour of the city after which the tour will end. Optional Activities: Dinner at Joe’s Beer House. Included Meals: Breakfast.

What to bring
    Baggage allowance is one medium sized travel bag / backpack or soft bag, plus sleeping bag, not exceeding 20 kg and a daypack. A full checklist of essential items is included in the pre-departure information document.

Medical Precautions
    Anyone participating in an overland expedition, must be in good health. Medical facilities are not readily available in some of the remote areas we visit. All personal prescription medication should be carried with you, together with a copy of the prescription. Your guide should be advised of any existing medical conditions you may have. Clients are strongly advised to take anti-malaria tablets.

Visa Requirements
    When visiting South Africa for a period of up to 90 days, travellers from Commonwealth countries, Japan, the USA and the European Union do not require a visa. Visitors who intend to work in South Africa must apply for a work permit abroad at the South African Consulate or Embassy. Before departing for South Africa, check with the nearest South African Consulate or Embassy for any possible changes regarding the visa requirements. Passports must carry a validity of 6 months beyond intended date of departure from South Africa. Note, Travellers should have a minimum of two blank pages in their passport to enable the entry visa to be issued. If there is insufficient space in the passport entry will be denied. *** When visiting Namibia for a period of up to 90 days, travellers from the following countries do not need a visa before entering Namibia but as this list is constantly changing, all travellers are advised to contact the Namibian Diplomatic Mission before departure for Namibia: Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Canada, the USA, Brazil, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Angola, Mozambique, Kenya, Japan, Singapore and the Scandinavian countries. All travellers to Namibia should have a passport that is valid for six months after the intended departure from Namibia. Visitors who intend to work in Namibia must apply for a work permit abroad at the Namibian Consulate or Embassy.

Insurance
    Clients have to take out travel- and medical insurance. Credit Card travel insurance is often inadequate.
