The Garden Route is truly one of South Africa's richest botanical treasures, where you can lose yourself in nature amid the grandeur of giant Yellowwood and Milkwood trees in one of the indigenous forests. Traversing the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains, the many inland attractions, to the scattered seaside resorts and tiny coastal villages abound on a truly majestic journey.

Tour Details
Day 1:
We leave Cape Town and travel along the N1 highway, through the Huguenot Tunnel and on to Route 62. Cape Route 62 is a tourist route in the Western Cape, offering the shorter, scenic alternative to the N2 highway. Enjoy a lunch stop (not included in cost) in Barrydale then continue on to Oudtshoorn where your first stop will be at an Ostrich Farm, where you can enjoy an informative tour (included in cost).
Dinner and overnight in Oudtshoorn.
Standard accommodation in Hlangana Lodge / Queens Hotel or similar.

Day 2:
Enjoy a morning tour of the Cango Caves (incl. in cost) in Oudtshoorn before departing for Knysna. You will have the afternoon at leisure to explore this vibrant coastal town. You can enjoy lunch (not included in cost) at the Knysna Waterfront. While in Knysna why not take a trip on the Knysna Lagoon on the John Benn or Paddle Cruiser (not included in cost, subject to availability). Dinner and overnight accommodation in Plettenberg Bay.
Standard accommodation in Lairds Lodge or similar.

Day 3:
Get up-close-and-personal with nature at the Knysna Elephant Park (included in cost). With the help of our resident African elephants and our well-informed guides, you will learn about the sad and mystical story of the Knysna Elephants – the world’s Southern most elephants. After lunch (not included in cost), we travel to Plettenberg Bay for a visit to Birds of Eden (included in cost) and an optional Whale and Dolphin experience (not included in cost, subject to availability).
Dinner and overnight accommodation in Plettenberg Bay.
Standard accommodation at Lairds Lodge or similar.

Day 4:
Early morning takes us to the beautiful Tsitsikamma National Park. The word 'Tsitsikamma' originates from the Khoi-Khoi language used by the local Inqwa Tribe that lived in the area some 1700 years ago, meaning 'place of many/sparkling/abundant water'.
We enjoy lunch (not included in cost) in the Tsitsikamma National Park. Our tour ends in Port Elizabeth.

Visa Requirements When visiting South Africa for a period of up to 90 days, travellers from Commonwealth countries, Japan, the USA and the European Union do not require a visa. Visitors who intend to work in South Africa must apply for a work permit abroad at the South African Consulate or Embassy. Before departing for South Africa, check with the nearest South African Consulate or Embassy for any possible changes regarding the visa requirements.
Passports must carry a validity of 6 months beyond intended date of departure from South Africa. Note, Travellers should have a minimum of two blank pages in their passport to enable the entry visa to be issued. If there is insufficient space in the passport entry will be denied.
