Tour Details


Days 1 to 2:

We depart Johannesburg and travel through scenic Mpumalanga until we reach Swaziland. Crossing into the country we enter Hlane Royal National Park which is home to lion, elephant, white rhino and diverse birdlife. The 30,000 hectare Nature Reserve has a wide variety of optional activities available. Optional Activities: Hiking, Mountain Biking, Game Drives, Lion Tour. Included meals: Day 1- Lunch & Dinner Day 2- Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 3 to 4:

Today we will leave Swaziland behind us and cross into Moçambique. Today we will leave Swaziland behind us and cross into Mozambique. We will be travelling north beside the ocean and experience beautiful coastal scenery. In the late afternoon we arrive at our camp for the next two nights. There are many optional activities on offer in this small town, and Tofo is home to some of the best scuba diving on the east coast of Africa. There is also plenty of time to relax on the beautiful beaches. Optional Activities: Snorkelling, Fishing, Scuba Diving and Surfing. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 5 to 7:

We depart Praia do Tofo and drive north to Vilanculos. The next day we sail on a dhow (traditional boat) to the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago where we relax by snorkeling or soaking up the sun. Whale Sharks are often seen gliding through the clear, warm waters of the Indian Ocean. We return to Vilanculos on Day 7 and can enjoy a number of optional activities like horse riding or snorkeling. Optional Activities: horse riding, snorkeling, scuba diving. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 8 to 9:

Driving south through beautiful coconut plantations, we pass through the old European settlement of Inhambane. In the early afternoon we arrive at our campsite, right on the beach. The following day is free to soak up the sun, swim or partake in the varied optional activities available here. Optional Activities: Scuba Diving, Horse Riding, Quad Biking, Snorkeling, Boat Cruise. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 10:

From Inhambane we drive further south to the bustling capital city, Maputo. We arrive in the afternoon and have time to explore this truly African city. Maputo is currently undergoing a facelift as Mozambique’s economy grows steadily. Highlights worth visiting are the Fort of Nossa Senhora da Conceiao, and the Central Railway Station. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Days 11 to 12:

Today we return to South Africa to the world famous Kruger National Park, where we will do our best to see Africa’s Big 5. The Kruger National Park is the most famous nature conservation area in the world. It is roughly 36,800 square kilometers in size and was founded by South Africa’s first president Paul Kruger. Two nights are spent in this magnificent area enjoying African wildlife. Informative dawn game walks and night drives (accompanied by a ranger) are offered as an optional extra. Optional Activities: Kruger National Park Night Drive and Dawn Game Walks. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 13:

We depart Kruger today and visit a Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. Many of Africa’s beautiful birds and wildlife can be seen up close. We camp for the night in the heart of the Panorama Route. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 14:

We will be travelling along the Panorama Route stopping at Blyde River Canyon, the 3rd largest canyon in the world. Breathtaking view points include God’s Window. The Bourke’s Luck Potholes are the fascinating results of erosion caused by the River and make for some wonderful photographs. The tour ends on arrival in Johannesburg. As the arrival time can vary greatly we do not recommend end any onward travel arrangements are made. Johannesburg has many excellent restaurants and the groups often spend this evening together. Optional Activities: Dinner out. Included meals: Breakfast & Lunch.

What to bring
    A full checklist of essential items is included in the pre-departure information document. Due to limited space, luggage is restricted to one backpack or similar sized item (not exceeding 20 kg.) and one daypack.

Medical Precautions
    Anyone participating in an overland expedition, must be in good health. Medical facilities are not readily available in some of the remote areas we visit. All personal prescription medication should be carried with you, together with a copy of the prescription. Your guide should be advised of any existing medical conditions you may have. Precautions against malaria are advised.

Visa Requirements
    Mocambique: All travellers are required to apply for visas before arrival. Passports should be valid for a period of at least 6 months. In general, visas have a validity of 1 month but this can be extended in Maputo. Working and residential visas are to be arranged via the National Immigration Directorate in Maputo. *** When visiting South Africa for a period of up to 90 days, travellers from Commonwealth countries, Japan, the USA and the European Union do not require a visa. Visitors who intend to work in South Africa must apply for a work permit abroad at the South African Consulate or Embassy. Before departing for South Africa, check with the nearest South African Consulate or Embassy for any possible changes regarding the visa requirements. Passports must carry a validity of 6 months beyond intended date of departure from South Africa. Note, Travellers should have a minimum of two blank pages in their passport to enable the entry visa to be issued. If there is insufficient space in the passport entry will be denied.

Insurance
    Clients have to take out travel- and medical insurance. Credit Card travel insurance is often inadequate.
