Climate

Namibia is considered an arid country with an average precipitation level of only 270mm. The climate is generally temperate to warm in the interior with a temperate yet very dry climate along the coast. Temperatures in the interior can rise to well above 35° in summer during the day and fall below freezing in winter during the night. Most precipitation in the coastal areas is in the form of fog that rolls a few kilometres inland from the Atlantic to dissipate in the heat of the interior. What rainfall there is, generally falls in summer with the highest rainfall areas in the country concentrated in the extreme north-east stretching from Rundu in Okavango Region to Katima Mulilo in the eastern section of Caprivi.
