Tour Details
Day 1:
A representative will meet you in Richards Bay, home to South Africa’s largest harbour, followed by a transfer to your game lodge.
The Lodge lies within the 15 000 hectares/3 800 acres of Phinda Private Game Reserve, in the Maputaland region of KwaZulu-Natal.
Stay in private suites featuring spacious en suite bathrooms, sitting areas and spectacular viewing decks. Between exciting game-drives, birdwatch from the pooldeck, or simply relax in the Lodge’s comfortable sitting area with its great vaulted ceiling and enormous fireplace.
Safari activities at Phinda Game Reserve are plentiful. Enjoy game-drives, interpretive bush walks, canoeing on the Mzinene River, White Rhino tracking, or watch the sunrise or sunset whilst enjoying a Mzinene Riverboat Cruise.
|
Day 2:
Safari's at dawn and dusk with experienced rangers and trackers reveal the wonders of wild Zululand, from the awe-inspiring Big Five to a fascinating array of plants, statuesque antelope to startling insects, and of course over 350 species of magnificent birds that grace the reserve. Bush walks during the day not only afford the opportunity of tracking the black rhino on foot, but offer close encounters with the subtleties of nature and a brush with the traditional legends and uses of plants.
|
Day 3:
After breakfast guests will be transferred to their next game lodge.
Literally hand-built by local Zulu people to minimise impact on the rare Sand Forest, the stilted glass chalets of the lodge float between the forest floor below and the towering Torchwood trees above. Within these unique habitats no luxury has been overlooked, from beechwood and slate floors, to air-conditioning and hand towels tied with lichen.
Enjoy an evening game under a labyrinth of stars making up the Africa sky.
|
Day 4:
Enjoy the day exploring the surrounding area.
The forest and vlei zones are home to red duiker, nyala, suni antelope, bushpig or red squirrel. Here you will also find the largest privately owned population of nyala in the world. Spotted genet, porcupines and bush babies appear after dark. In the mountain and rocky zones, you may spot mountain reedbuck and chacma baboon.
Approx. 30 km to the east you will find the warm, inviting waters of the Indian Ocean. On the reefs of Sodwana, Whale Shark, Moray Eel, Leatherback and Loggerhead Turtle, crab, starfish and iridescent nudibranch sway with the rhythm of the tides.
|
Day 5:
After a scrumptious breakfast guest, a transfer will take the guests back to Richards Bay Airport.
